How does payment work on GatSwap?
An overview of how money flows in GatSwap trades.
GatSwap runs on a credit-based model. Traders purchase GatCredits in advance and spend one credit to complete each swap or purchase. If the firearms being traded are of similar value, no additional cash needs to change hands through GatSwap.
If there's a value difference ('boot'), the party receiving the more valuable firearm pays the difference. Boot payments are handled through GatSwap's secure payment system, not directly between users.
Payment flow
- 1Trader purchases GatCredits in the app (1 credit/$5, 3 credits/$12, 10 credits/$35).
- 2When a trade is confirmed, one GatCredit is used from your balance.
- 3If a cash boot is owed, the paying party completes that payment in-app before shipping.
- 4GatSwap holds the boot in escrow until both FFLs confirm receipt of firearms, then releases it to the recipient.
